What are the Dental Implants?
A dental implant is a titanium screw system on which a prosthesis is placed in cases of a missing tooth. Dental implants placed in the jawbone serve as a substitute for the tooth root. In cases of a single missing tooth, it is possible to replace the missing tooth without touching the adjacent healthy teeth, and thanks to dental implants, it is possible to use fixed prostheses instead of removable prostheses in cases of multiple missing teeth. In cases of total edentulism, thanks to implants, it is possible to fixate removable prostheses, which are difficult to use especially in the lower jaw, and which tend to frequently come out of the mouth.
How is the Dental Implant done?
First of all, the general health status of the patients who will have the dental implant is evaluated and oral examination is performed. The suitability of the existing bone for the implant is evaluated with 3D radiographic images. The length and diameter of the implant are decided by making millimetric measurements on this radiography. After the pre-planning is done, the process stage is started under local anesthesia. Slots for implants are opened in the jawbone and after the implants are placed in these slots, the procedure is terminated by suturing. Sutures are removed an average of 1 week after the operation and a control examination is performed.
