What is Thigh Lift Surgery?

It is a procedure in which excess sagging skin is removed from the inner thigh and re-wrapped, and it is always simultaneous with liposuction. It is used in cases of significant looseness in the thigh skin as a result of weight loss or aging.

Preparation:

Preparation for surgery includes, among other things:

Conducting routine examinations that precede surgery, in addition to the need to stop smoking in order to prevent delayed wound healing. Medications containing aspirin must also be stopped for ten days before the operation.

As for anesthesia, the patient undergoes general anesthesia, and this operation requires a 3-day stay in the hospital, and a 4-day recovery period in Bursa.

Thigh Lift Operation

The surgical procedure is performed by making a horizontal incision in the front part of the thigh, which extends from the groove located between the perineum and the upper part of the inner thigh to the fold of the gluteal muscle. This incision represents the future scar, and in some difficult cases, a vertical scar is formed.

Then the surgical work begins, where fatty infiltration occurs using a hypotonic solution, then the fat is suctioned out in the inner thigh, the lower borders are peeled and the skin tags are removed, after which the wound is sutured using absorbable sutures.

The operation takes about two hours, and after completion, a compression bandage is applied. The future scar will be invisible.

After completing the surgery, the surgeon uses explosives to drain the fluids for a period of one to two days to avoid bruising.

Side Effects of Thigh Lift:

Side effects that may occur after the operation include some edema and bruising that are not dangerous, a temporary decrease in the sensitivity of the skin of the thigh, and mild pain that goes away with analgesics.

The patient needs about 15 days to fully recover.

The doctor also obligates his patient to take some measures, such as stopping all strenuous exercise for two months, and after three months have passed, the patient can then obtain the final result.

The thigh lift procedure satisfies the patient's desires and has a high degree of safety, but there must be some complications that must be aware of. Systemic complications that may occur include blood clots, thrombophlebitis, and pulmonary emboli, but they are rare.

As for local complications, such as the occurrence of a hematoma, the skin must be completely clean to avoid infection. Lymphatic effusions may also occur, which then require a puncture in most cases, but they dry up without any specific consequences.

Sometimes, there is a delay in wound healing, which may reach up to two weeks. Skin necrosis can also be observed, and an absence of sensitivity in the skin of the thighs, but this sensitivity gradually returns in the period between March and June after surgery.

We can say that surgery carries risks even for small interventions, but they should not be exaggerated and overestimated.
